Background

A trolley is running out of control down a track. In its path are 5 people who have been tied to the track by the mad philosopher. Fortunately, you can flip a switch, which will lead the trolley down a different track to safety. Unfortunately, there is a single person tied to that track. Should you flip the switch?
 

Arguments For

Yes, flip the switch

5 lives are more valuable than 1.

Arguments Against

No, don't flip the switch

5 lives are not more valuable than 1.

Also, flipping the switch makes you a participant.

You should not flip the switch, because you would be forcing the single person to be a hero without his will.

Every life is valuable, a large quantity isn't more valuable.
